Stanford's Ogwumike improving by leaps, shots-sfgate.com
Last season, as a freshman, Ogwumike was Stanford’s fourth-leading scorer, at 10.6 points per game, and she averaged 5-11 fewer minutes per game than the top three. Her time will go up this season, and Ogwumike has the potential to be the team’s second-best player behind Appel. VanDerveer compared Ogwumike to former Olympian Katrina McClain, who is in the women’s basketball Hall of Fame. Ogwumike is “going to brutalize some people,” VanDerveer said.
